Mathematics

Welcome to the Kingsmead School Mathematics Department.

At Key Stage 3 (Year 7 & 8), our students develop their mathematical skills covering the topics of Number, Algebra, Shape & Space and Handling Data. Students are set in all years from early in Year 7. This allows students to work at the most appropriate pace whilst ensuring that work can be set at a level that suitably challenges all. Setting arrangements are regularly reviewed.

At Key Stage 4 (Year 9, 10 & 11), students prepare for Edexcel GCSE Mathematics.

Staff are committed to inspiring and motivating their students and the subject is presented in a wide variety of ways including those using technology such as computers, interactive whiteboards and students own devices. We look for opportunities to extend our more able students and arrange various activities including involvement in the UKMT challenges.  To increase the confidence and understanding of our weaker students we run lunch time Mathematics clubs.
