On Wednesday 28th November a group of Year 7 and Year 8 students took part in a day focussing on our ‘digital world’ and how students can improve their employability in the 21st century ‘digital economy’.
The day, run by Lloyds Banking Group in collaboration with Weston College, took place at The Winter Gardens in Weston-Super-Mare, with Kingsmead being one of a number of schools in attendance.
Students worked in groups, covering topics from national curriculum based subject lessons but with a specific ‘digital’ focus. They then used their learning and insight to build business plans which were judged by industry experts. Robert from Year 8 said “My Group's business was called VR Lifestyle. In VR Lifestyle you can do shopping, education and games and walk around in them. When you go shopping you can get items virtually and you can pay for them. We designed it as an app.”
Our thanks go to Lloyds Bank and Weston College for hosting the day. More information on The ReDiscover Project can be found at https://therediscoverproject.co.uk/
